About the Artist

As an artist living in Marin County, California, Terry is drawn by the beauty of the surrounding landscape, often painting on location. Her plein aire paintings are created in a direct, immediate style responding to the warmth or coolness of the air, the stillness or rush of the wind, the calm of the coastal mist, or the bright summer light of the golden hillsides. While much of her work reflects her local environment, Terry has also painted extensively in Hawaii, the mountains and deserts of California, the Pacific Northwest, Tuscany and Australia.

Her work is the highlight of many private collections and she has exhibitioned extensively throughout California including the Best of Plein Air Exhibition in Laguna Beach, the Plein Aire Biennial at the Napa Valley Museum, Revisiting the Romance of the California Landscape at the Santa Cruz Art League Gallery, the Napa Valley Mustard Festival, En Plein Air at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts, and the Pacific Northwest Exhibition at the Rogue Gallery in Medford, Oregon. A wide range of galleries and museums have been proud to exhibit Terry's art, among them: Artisans in San Rafael; Gallery Route One in Point Reyes Station; Los Gatos Art Museum, Los Gatos; and the Fine Arts Institute of the San Bernardino County Museum.

Terry discovered her deep love and talent for art as a young woman growing up in Los Angeles. She earned her BFA in Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts from the University of California, Los Angeles. Since then she has honed her skills by working with acclaimed artists Jeffrey Beauchamp, John Poon, Joan Hoffman and Carol Levy. She has established affiliations with the Marin Arts Council, Marin Society of Artists, Laguna Plein Air Painters Association and participates in community art events such as the Italian Street Painting Festival, Plein Air Day at the Marin County Fair. Most recently she is honored to participate the Plein Air Painting Festival, a 6 day event in San Luis Obispo County. Terry also owns Lumina Designworks, which provides graphic design services to clients throughout San Francisco and the North Bay.

"I see my work as a reflection and physical response to the natural environment surrounding us. My goal is to create paintings that capture a moment in time, a sense of peace, and the mysterious beauty of the natural world, an experience we often neglect in the rush of our lives. I want to give the viewer a place to rest for a time and enjoy."
