ABout tErryAs an artist living in Marin County, California, Terry is drawn by the beauty of the surrounding landscape, often painting on location. Her plein air paintings are created in a direct, immediate style responding to the warmth or coolness of the air, the stillness or rush of the wind, the calm of the coastal mist, or the bright summer light of the golden hillsides. While much of her work reflects her local environment, Terry has also painted extensively in Hawaii, the mountains and deserts of California, the Pacific Northwest, Italy and Australia.
Her work is the highlight of many private collections and she has exhibitioned extensively throughout California including the Best of Plein Air Exhibition in Laguna Beach, the Plein Air Biennial at the Napa Valley Museum, Revisiting the Romance of the California Landscape at the Santa Cruz Art League Gallery, the Napa Valley Mustard Festival, En Plein Air at the Sebastopol Center for the Arts, and the Pacific Northwest Exhibition at the Rogue Gallery in Medford, Oregon. "I see my work as a reflection and physical response to the natural environment surrounding us. My goal is to create paintings that capture a moment in time, a sense of peace, and the mysterious beauty of the natural world, an experience we often neglect in the rush of our lives. I want to give the viewer a place to rest for a time and enjoy."
